Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 is a band formed in 1966 by Brazilian pianist Sergio Mendes. They fused pop, jazz, and samba with bossa nova as their base, and led the global bossa nova boom. They gained worldwide fame with their signature song "Mas Que Nada," and gained popularity with a sophisticated sound for the American market, including covers of Beatles songs, becoming a representative presence in the music scene of the mid-to-late 1960s.
