GODIEGO is a pioneering Japanese progressive rock band formed in 1975 and 1976. They had a string of hits from the late 1970s to the early 1980s, exerting a major influence on the Japanese music scene. Although they disbanded in 1985, they reunited several times after that, and in 2006 announced their permanent reunion. They are currently signed to Have Mercy.In 1978, he released "Gandhara," the ending theme for the TV program "Journey to the West" (Nippon TV), and "Monkey Magic," the opening theme for the program. "Gandhara" and "Monkey Magic" were both ranked in the top 10 for seven weeks at the same time, with "Gandhara" being particularly popular among younger generations.In 1979, he released "Beautiful Name," a song in support of UNICEF's International Year of the Child, "Galaxy Express 999," the theme song for the film of the same name, and "Holy and Bright," the ending theme for "Journey to the West II" (Nippon Television).
