Ibanez DT-670 Destroyer II Bass 1984

The "Destroyer" series announced by Ibanez in 1984. It was favored as a trademark by renowned artists in the 80s rock scene, and due to its continued hidden popularity even after production ended, it was revived once in 2013.

This time we have received a rare 1984-made "DT-670 Destroyer II Bass" with a weight of 4.07kg.

This Made in Japan model features an aggressive-shaped basswood body that produces deep, resonant low-end tones. It employs a bolt-on maple neck, a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with white dot position markers, and a matching headstock coordinated with the body. It has a regular 34-inch scale.

The tuning pegs differ from those produced in the very early stages; this is from the period when the "Smooth Tuner B II" was adopted, which was changed in late 1984.
It is equipped with two "S-UPER J6" humbucker pickups, with controls consisting of master volume / master tone / balancer / two tri-sound switches. The humbucker coils can be switched between three connection patterns: series, coil tap, and parallel. The hardware is unified in gold, and it features an "Accu-cast B II" bridge.

Sister models of this model also exist. The "DT-870" features 3 pickups and random triangle position markers, while the "DT6750," which adopts a different finish, omits the balance control. This series, including the "DT-670," had production ended in 1986, making it quite rare.

It has a certain Japan vintage quality, and although it was originally in the beginner price range, it is now evaluated as a complete realization of an Ibanez bass that combines "playability" and "sound" that extend to the present day with an "aggressive shape," so the price appreciation is well-deserved. While it shows signs of use, it is basically in good condition, and we recommend it to those inclined toward HR/HM!
