Gibson Picture S-175 Stone part rst 1957
Gibson ES-175 Sunburst 1957
A vintage 1957 product from the classic Full Acoustic model, Gibson ES-175, has arrived. The "A25670" is the first year of the humbucker and "PAF" feature.
The ES-175 was produced in 1949 as a full acoustic guitar with cutaways, and is a model that has made a strong impression not only by the legends of the JAZZ world such as Joe Pass and Jim Hall, but also by Steve Howe, guitarist of the progressive rock band "Yes."
The body sounds are controlled by using plywood with thin poplar material sandwiched between maples on the top, and the body width is 16-1/4 inch and a medium scale of 24-3/4 inch, making it a smaller size than other full acoustics.
The mahogany neck is double parallelogram and the head is crown inlay.
The bridge side is a so-called zigzag tailpiece, but only the clasp part, which appears to be the current product, has been implanted and replaced.
As for the pickups installed, 1957 was a time when there was a mix of decals with "Patent Applied For" and those with them. This humbucker is a type that does not have decals attached and is probably an original PAF, but it is very difficult to make a conclusion, so we have posted an image. Please check there. We also take other photos, so if you would like to purchase, please contact us using the Digimart form.
The DC resistance is measured and the value is "6.5KΩ".
Furthermore, the pot and jack were replaced with domestically produced ones that were thought to have been replaced in the 1970s when they arrived, and as they had deteriorated, we replaced them with CTS and Switchcraft at our store, and they are not original.
Currently, we have overhauled, mated, and wired at our store, so the playability is good and the playability is excellent. This is a very valuable piece, as it is a vintage style that cannot be produced with a relic, and is a simple model with a one-ham style.
It is not suitable for collectors looking for a fully original guitar, but it is a high-quality full acoustic guitar that can be used not only on recording but also on stage, so don't miss out on this precious ES-175.
