In 1976, Yamaha developed the SG2000 with Carlos Santana.In order to meet Santana's request to "maximise sustain," the original design is achieved with unique features such as a T-cross maple top, through-neck structure, brass, sustain blocks, and more.
Six months after the release of the SG2000, the SG-1000 was born as a model that responded to players' demands for traditional rock sounds.

Instead of dark, sustained, rich through-neck and brass sustain blocks, a set neck structure is adopted, pursuing a bright, punchy sound.The body material is the same as the Les Paul, with a maple top and mahogany back, but it is extremely well-made, showing the spirit of the time, as it was trying to make Yamaha's own unique item, which is different from Gibson or Fender.
