Gibson ES-345 1962
Gibson ES-345 1962
The ``ES-345'' was released in 1959 as a superior model to the classic Gibson semi-acoustic guitar ``ES-335,'' which continues to attract many players with its traditional box sound and the relaxed sustain of a solid body.
This time we have received a vintage item made in 1962.This piece is a combination of cherry color and gold hardware, and the presence of the Varitone switch attached to the guitar is an eye-catcher.
Below the chicken head shaped knob is a notch filter with 6 individual capacitors soldered to the switch board.Position 1 is true bypass, and the signal from the pickup flows directly to the volume pot.The signal does not pass through resistors or capacitors. The other five positions act to remove specific preset frequency bands.
The body has a semi-acoustic structure with a press-molded maple plywood top and back set on a rim with a center block set.It has a rosewood (probably Jacaranda at this time) fingerboard with split parallelogram inlays for high playability.
The two humbucking pickups are "PAF".Judging from the sticker on the back, it is probably original. The electrical components such as pots are soldered in cans, making it difficult to see what's inside. It is most likely original when looking at the volume and torque.Contrary to the truss rod cover with the word "STEREO" engraved on it, the jack has been replaced with a monaural jack instead of a stereo one, and the pegs have been replaced with Grover ones. Also, the Varitone switch plate will have been replaced with a new one later.
Although some parts have been replaced here and there, the important parts of this vintage guitar are still intact, and you can experience the highly versatile Gibson ES tone that players have loved for over 60 years.
Please take this opportunity to try out this rare Gibson masterpiece from the early 1960s, where you can enjoy vintage semi-acoustic sound.
