Fender Japan Stratocaster Black w/ Monty's Guitars '54 Stratocaster Pickups Set
A Fender Japan Stratocaster with significantly upgraded pickups is now in stock at our store!
This is a black Stratocaster with Q serial "Made in Japan" marking, manufactured by Fujigen between 1993-1994. Being manufactured in Japan, it maintains stable quality and excellent cost-performance while achieving modern playability suitable for various styles.
It features a standard wood material maple neck with a thicker grip, a maple 21F fingerboard, and simple controls with 1VOL / 2TONE. The rear tone control is ineffective. The pickguard is 1-ply, giving it a look similar to Eric Clapton's beloved "Blackie".
At our store, we have replaced the pickups from the original specifications with "Monty's Guitars '54 Stratocaster Pickups Parchment". (Please note that the original pickups are not included.)
"Monty's Guitars" is a high-end pickup brand based in London, UK. Founder "Matt Gleeson" thoroughly analyzed vintage pickups and reconstructed them for modern players—a tone that brings out the best performance across all genres.
The "'54 Stratocaster Pickup" faithfully reproduces the original set from when Stratocaster pickups were first produced. It has been reborn as a practical field-ready specification.
It possesses the midrange character reminiscent of a Telecaster, common to excellent mid-1950s Strat pickups, and adds perfect thickness to the natural attack characteristic of a maple fingerboard. Yet it does not sacrifice clarity or harmonic content. The midrange thickness becomes the power to drive the amp solidly when needed, producing a thick and clear drive sound alongside vintage character.
Faithful to the original, these pickups use hand-beveled magnets, precisely reproducing the magnet stagger from 1954.
Like vintage Fender pickups, all Monty's Stratocaster pickups use only "partial potting". This allows the center of the coil to remain open, yielding a more responsive tone.
If you're looking for a guitar that captures the tone of the earliest known period with a practical field-ready specification, please choose this one.
