田村廣(Hiroshi Tamura) C200 1971
Hiroshi Tamura C200 1971
Hiroshi Tamura, a guitar maker from Kochi Prefecture, is a master craftsman that classical guitar enthusiasts are sure to know.Together with his younger brother Mitsuru Tamura, he lived in Spain in the late 1950s, learning production techniques during that time, and from the 1960s to the 1980s produced high-quality classical and flamenco guitars, which became popular not only in Japan but also in Spain.
The model that has arrived this time is "C200", manufactured in 1971.The label states "Guitarra Tamura", the model name, and the year of manufacture.
The "C" in "C200" is a model number mainly given to flamenco guitars, with those below 50 being standard products and those above 60 being luxury products."C200" is a high-end model that you don't often see, and it has a sealess back plate, a nut width of about 52 mm, and a 664 mm scale. The fingerboard is ebony, the bridge is Jacaranda, and the paint seems to be lacquer. In addition, we will refrain from making any judgments regarding the wood used as it will only be judged based on the appearance.
It was a well-balanced guitar with good response, an attractive dry, crisp tone and exquisite lingering sound, and the thin neck grip made it easy to play. There is a story that Mr. Tamura's flamenco guitars were often called "Tamirez" because they often sounded better than the guitars made by Jose Ramirez Studio. For this reason, flamenco guitars seem to be more popular than classical models on the Japanese second-hand market, and this trend can be seen in the guitars of his younger brother Mitsuru Tamura as well.
When played gently, it produces a sweet and lyrical sound, and when played forcefully, it produces a rough tone at a considerable volume, with deep bass and very clear treble. The rich overtones when you play a chord are the hallmark of a top-quality guitar made by a master craftsman.
