鄧麗君簽約香港寶麗金的開山作，黃金時代由此開始，「島國之情歌」系列更是鄧麗君的經典。「島國之情歌第一集」以鄧麗君的日語專輯為藍本，翻唱成國語版本。「情人的關懷」、「再見 我的愛人」都成其代表作。該專輯在台灣由海山發行。
島國系指日本，常為人誤解為台灣島。
