Notes
Issued in Japan by Victor Record Co. Ltd. c.1958 under license from Atlantic. Black deep-groove labels with Japanese text; flip-back sleeve with liner notes by Ichirō Fukuda (福田一郎).The runouts include the original U.S. Atlantic lacquer numbers (ATLP-1278-A / ATLP-1278-B) followed by Victor’s local plating codes, which indicates U.S. metal parts were supplied. The label also states “from a master recording owned by Atlantic Records,” a phrase typically used when imported metalwork was used rather than a dub. Given the 1958 date—when Japanese plants had not yet begun cutting foreign jazz titles from copy tapes—this is consistent with period practice of pressing directly from U.S. parts.
Mono edition.
